Ranjit Dillon
An Ordinary Superstar
Standing 5’6” weighing 160 pounds and possessing extraordinary stick skills and exceptional speed and quickness throughout his career - Ranjit Dillon was known as one of lacrosse’s greatest to ever play for Victoria.
Ranjit played two partial seasons and three full seasons in the Inter-City Lacrosse League and fourteen seasons of senior lacrosse for the Victoria Shamrocks. As an underage junior call-up, he was a significant part of the Victoria Shamrocks winning the 1962 Minto Cup championship defeating the Brampton Armstrongs in six games. In 1963, Dillon once again played in the Minto Cup, but lost to the Oshawa Green Gaels in six games (this was the first year of the Gaels seven year run as Minto Cup champions).
During a 14-year senior career, Ranjit Dillon scored 450 goals along with 788 assists for a total of 1238 points in 453 games. He was a league all-star seven times and voted winner of the Maitland Trophy for sportsmanship three times.
In 1966 in his first year at the senior level, Ranjit was league Rookie of the Year. He followed this up in 1967 becoming the League Leading Scorer.
In 1979, Ranjit was a member of the Victoria Shamrocks as they won their first Mann Cup in 22 years. Ranjit played for Team Canada in 1974 in the inaugural World Field Lacrosse Championships in Australia.
